Every record is associated with a category (as used by the PalmPilot). The use of categories has many benefits including :
group records together for editing purposes,
group records together to enhance visibility and navigation
allow restricted searching capabilities
You can define up to 16 different category names, with the exception that one predefined category called “Unfiled” must exist.
Due to the hierarchical nature of the record list, there is only one restriction when assigning or changing the category names to records. You may only change the category of a root record, as subrecords automatically inherit the category of their parent.
In order to edit the list of available categories, click the Edit Categories button. This will bring up the following dialog box.
To exit click the Done button or use the shortcut Alt-O.
To create a new category name, click the New button or use the shortcut Alt-N, and you will be prompted to type in a new name.
To rename a category to another name, click the Rename button or use the shortcut Alt-R, and you will be prompted to type a new name. If you type an existing name, you will be warned that taking this action will result all records in the two categories being merged into one category. Infact, this is an easy ways to merge two categories together.
To delete a category, click the Delete button or use the shortcut Alt-D. You will be prompted to confirm the deletion. If you delete a category that has records associated with it, then you will be warned that if you continue, these records will be moved to the Unfiled category.
In the delete and rename case, if no category is selected, then you will be prompted to select a category before selecting the action.
